Introduction

Áine Belton was born in Dublin in 1986. She has been living and working from Meath for the past twelve years. Áine has just finished her degree in the Visual Arts Practice course in I.A.D.T., receiving a First Class Honours.

Belton’s medium experimentation includes drawing to video, photography, audio, performance and installation art. Themes of reality, technology, self-reliance and the human condition feature in Belton’s art practice. Within her installations she challenges the spectator to reconsider the impact of constructed images that surround us on a day to day basis. Surrealism is inherent in Belton’s work. She has exhibited in a number of group shows around Dublin including spaces such as Broadstone, Exchange Dublin, The Digital Hub, The Back Loft, This is not a shop as well as a few shows on I.A.D.T. campus. Belton has had the privilege being taught in performance by Sascha Perfect, Áine Philips and Ciarán O’Keefe. She has performed in various locations on her own across Dublin. She has been on stage in the Olympia performing in Alternative Miss Ireland. She was working alongside other performers accompanying the performance artist Ciarán O’Keefe who won the title of Alternative Miss Ireland 2009.
